gwyneth paltrow cookbook my father's daughter

Today, it's not enough to do just one thing. Celebrities like Beyonce Knowles have their names on everything from CDs to films to clothing. Some have lines of nail polish, or hair products or fragrances.

And other celebrities turn to food -- even ones you didn't know could cook.

Gwyneth Paltrow is only one of the recent celebrities to slap her name on a cookbook or food product. After traveling around Spain with celebrity chef Mario Batali she put together her own collection of family recipes.

Director, producer and screenwriter Francis Ford Coppola began making wine in 1977. His brand has gone on to produce pasta sauces as well and he also owned the Rubicon restaurant in San Francisco with Robin Williams and Robert DeNiro until it closed in 2008.

In 1982 Paul Newman founded "Newman's Own." It started out as salad dressings, but the brand has grown to include lemonade, wine, salsa, pasta sauces and more. All of the proceeds go to charity, and as of 2010 the brand had raised over $300 million.

P. Diddy has been the brand ambassador for France's Ciroc vodka, a luxury brand which makes its vodka from grapes, since 2003.

Harper's Bazaar Is Hiding This Stunning Pic Of Gwyneth Paltrow From Newsstands

Gwyneth Paltrow Harper's Bazaar

The March issue of Harper's Bazaar does something it's never done before—show the back of someone's head. (This image with Gisele Bundchen in 2002 wasn't an actual front cover.)

That's Gwyneth Paltrow gracing the cover in a black Anthony Vaccarello dress and showing a lot of leg.

The cover won't be seen on newsstands. Rather, this version of the March issue will be the cover that only subscribers receive. Newsstand buyers will get a more "normal" cover, featuring Paltrow's face and a bunch of teasing headlines.

The faceless Paltrow cover kicks off the magazine's redesign—its first revamp in a decade.

The redesign comes after a 12 percent decrease in ad pages last year. The revamped magazine will contain 15.5 percent more ad pages, bringing the page total from 235 to 271—still behind Elle, InStyle and Vogue's March numbers

The new Harper's is one inch larger, contains thicker paper and has new cover typography (Didot, in case you're a font geek).

Gwyneth Paltrow Harper's BazaarTwo items that remain unchanged are the iconic black logo and the "Fabulous at Every Age" feature. Harper's will also continue to make separate covers for newsstands and subscribers.

Publisher Carol Smith, formerly of Elle, credits the redesign as her first official issue even though she has been with the magazine since last May.

The issue hits stands Feb. 14.

Ok. This isn't an actual subscriber cover...However, Gwyneth Paltrow wasn't the first to have the back of her head photographed for a Bazaar shoot. In 2002, model Gisele Bundchen appeared in a front-to-back photo on the magazine's cover.

Beyoncé, Gwyneth, Reese And Cameron Unite For New Ryan Murphy Film

One-Hit-Wonders-Paltrow-Witherspoon-Diaz

Paltrow! Witherspoon! Diaz! Beyoncé! Samberg!

The star wattage on this new film is enough to power a whole city.

"Glee" creator Ryan Murphy is taking on yet another musical adventure—this time on the big screen.

According to Deadline.com, the TV producer and sometimes movie director has brought together a cavalcade of stars for his new movie "One Hit Wonders."

The movie will focus on three singers played by Cameron Diaz and Oscar-winners Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon who each had a number one hit on the charts during the 90s, but soon became forgotten.

So the trio decide to form a super-group in order to recapture their fame in present day.

Paltrow, Witherspoon and Diaz in a film alone is a big deal, but add Beyonce into the mix (in an unspecified role) and things are really about to get fierce.

Further, "Saturday Night Live" cast member and all-around funnyman Andy Samberg will be joining the gang. Put all that together and you get a new, women-friendly Brat Pack.

Samberg's own little super-group The Lonely Island will be putting together the songs for this crazy venture. If their track record has proven anything, it's that they are hilarious.

We do hope this doesn't mean we'll be hearing any female versions of "D*** in a Box" though...

Murphy will be penning the script for this pet-project as well as directing it and shooting will presumably start sometime next year, after Murphy is finished directing the big screen adaptation of the play "The Normal Heart."

So what kind of music should this super-group sing? If it's anything like the songs SNL's Maya Rudolph's character used to sing on "Up All Night," this movie will be uproariously funny.

We cannot wait to see this.

Check Out Gwyneth Paltrow's Clothing Line That's Only Available In Scandinavia

gwyneth paltrow lindex modern preppy

It makes perfect sense that Gwyneth Paltrow would license her name to a clothing line named "Modern Preppy." The blonde from Manhattan's Upper East Side, born of acting royalty (mother Blythe Danner, father Bruce Paltrow), is the ne plus ultra of the prep aesthetic.

It's a little weird, though, that Modern Preppy is currently only available in Sweden's Lindex chain of stores. Lindex has around 400 stores in Scandinavia, including Iceland, the Baltics, and Russia. It's a fast-fashion outlet, a bit like H&M.

She launched the label this month with a YouTube video and a blog, in Norwegian*:

Når Gwyneth ikke bærer vakre kjoler på den røde løperen, er det striper og "casual chic" som gjelder. Valget om å bruke henne som modell var enkelt ettersom hun nærmest er synonym med den moderne preppystilen.

Well, that's easy for her to say.

*Correction: This item originally said it was in Swedish until one of our readers caught the error.

Gwyneth's Lindex line keeps it bright and simple.

There's a lot of orange, green and white.

Modern Preppy leans less on pastels than, say, Lilly Pulitzer.

Gwyneth Paltrow's Unappetizing Cookbook Is Getting Eviscerated By Critics

$

0

Gwyneth paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow's new gluten and sugar-free cookbook is called "It's All Good."

But the critics have other things to say.

The book begins with Paltrow describing a time that she felt light-headed and feared she was "having a stroke." The episode turned out to be a panic attack and a migraine and inspired her to change her diet.

"When we mere mortals feel faint and off-kilter and fear we’re having a major health emergency, and really we’ve just gotten too much sun or had too little to eat, we file away our crazy little moment among our embarrassing stories shared only with close friends and family," writes Hailey Eber at the New York Post. "But when Gwyneth Paltrow has such an episode, she writes a cookbook."

Eber also blasted Paltrow's list of restricted foods, which include coffee, eggs, sugar, shellfish, potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers, eggplant, corn, wheat, and meat.

"The book reads like the manifesto to some sort of creepy healthy-girl sorority with members who use beet juice rather than permanent marker to circle the 'problem areas' on each other’s bodies," Eber writes.

Esther Zuckerman at The Atlantic Wire comments on how Paltrow's book takes finicky Hollywood eating habits to the extreme.

"It's All Good seems to take laughable Hollywood neuroticism about eating to the next level," she writes.

This isn't the first cookbook that Paltrow has written.

Her last one, "My Father's Daughter," was a critical and commercial success.

Gwyneth Paltrow Bashes Met Gala: 'I'm Never Going Again, It Was So Un-Fun'

Gwyneth Paltrow Met Gala

If you're Gwyneth Paltrow, Monday's Met Gala had everything going for it: a custom designed Valentino gown, a punk theme for the former goth girl, and her friend Beyoncé was the honorary co-chair.

But the 40-year-old actress still didn't have fun at the event.

"I'm never going again. It was so un-fun," Paltrow tells USA Today.

But why did the A-lister have such a terrible time? "It was boiling. It was too crowded. I did not enjoy it at all."

But Paltrow may want to watch her words, as the Met Gala is hosted by Vogue magazine — of which she has appeared on the cover seven times. And if she wants a shot at another, she better not bother editor and event chair, Anna Wintour.

At least Paltrow had her husband Chris Martin to keep her company inside the event — even though they didn't walk the red carpet together because they like to keep their 10-year marriage as "private" as possible, she explains.

Paltrow was more positive about the gala when talking with Entertainment Weekly, praising model Miranda Kerr's Michael Kors dress as "really beautiful. It was a little punk-y. She's just so pretty, it's abnormal."

The actress even asked the Victoria's Secret catwalker "'Is it weird to be that pretty?' And she was like, 'No.'"

Gwyneth Paltrow On Why Getting Paid $2 Million To Be A Brand Ambassador Is The 'Perfect' Job

$

gwyneth paltrow hugo boss

Actress, lifestyle blogger, and singing enthusiast Gwyneth Paltrow is raking in $2 million to be the face of Hugo Boss' new fragrance Jour, E! News reports.

Paltrow knows she has a sweet deal.

In an interview with Women's Wear Daily on why her partnership was amazing, the actress gave the exact answer you'd expect from someone who cavalierly suggests reader of her weekly newsletter Goop just spend $450,000-plus on their spring wardrobe.

I have had a really good experience working for Boss, and I always say this, but it really is such a perfect job when you have kids. I can only really do one film a year now because of my family and how it all works out, so it’s so nice for me to be able to work for a great company and, you know, I’m going to Spain next week for two days so I still get to travel and meet really interesting people and have a work interaction. But it’s not like I am out of the house for three months.

Jezebel's Jenna Sauers notes, "''...and, you know, I’m going to Spain next week.' Thanks, G, for being you.

Paltrow continued that Jour, which translates to day, is the perfect name for the fragrance and has been worked into her daily routine — which she then described in great detail:

“I wake up at 7 a.m., I get [the kids] fed, and I get them dressed in their uniforms, any bits of homework are finished,” Paltrow explained. “I take them to school. She [Apple, 9] gets dropped off at 8:25 a.m., and he [Moses, 7] gets dropped off at 8:45 a.m., so we have a croissant together in his school dining room and we do reading together. Then I go home and I work for one hour on all the e-mails that come in overnight from L.A. Then I exercise from about 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Then I work on Goop pretty much the rest of the day until I pick up my kids and then they have various activities.”
